Default Camcorder to PC hard disk

I am totaly new here. My first ever camcorder is only 2 weeks old. It is a Sony TRV-HC30E. With the supplied USB and software I cann't download my video on to the hard drive. I understand by using an iLINK, that can be done. Also I have Adobe Premiere 6. Is this the right software for a newbe?
Your comments and recomendations are very much appriciate.

Yep. Get an i-link (usually known as IEEE1394 or Firewire) cable. Premiere 6 will support that pretty much automatically AFAIK.

If your PC doesn't have firewire, you can get a PCI card for about 15 or a PCMCIA for about 25-30. ish.
