Hi all. I'm not sure if this in the correct section of the forum, but here goes anyway...

I've made a couple of music videos, one with footage from Batman: Arkham Asylum, and one based on the Splinter Cell series. I'm happy with them, but want to move things up a level before doing any more.

I've always used Window Movie Maker, but heard Sony Vegas was good. (I also tried some stuff in Adobe After Effects but really struggled). After making a brief video using Vegas, i've decided to go back to WMM 2.6.

Basically, I have a few questions regarding my methods. I've been downloading footage from YouTube, then converting it to an acceptable format, and then editing it. But the end quality is pretty poor. How do i keep the same high quality footage from YouTube for my finished product?

Any recommendations or advice is most welcome, even if it's just about video eiditng in general.

Thanks in advance

Here are the vids i've made so far:
