    Default Blasting Videos

    Hello,

I work for a mining company as drill and blast engineer, we have recently began videoing all blasting events that occur on site.

The people before me purchased a JVC GZ-X900 HD Camera to record all events, the problem i'm having (and those before me) is once the file has been clipped to a more suitable size we would like to view the blasts in slow motion (not sure if thats the correct terminology) or frame by frame to see what influence the our explosives have on the rock mass, but we are unable to do it.

Is there software available that can do the above?

Also once the files are clipped we would like to mave some short movies showing all blasts and if possible, add some cool tunes in the background, but the file sizes begin to get massive. What is the best format to convert the HD format to to get more suitable file sizes and what would be the best software available to edit the movies?

    Thanks.

You can do all this with Sony Vegas Pro editing software, including converting the HD files to the Windows Media Video HD format.

As for the cool music, how about: "We will, we will, ROCK YOU!..."

If you are shooting footage that is intended to be seen in slow motion shoot it at a high frame rate for best results.

Indeed, even Vegas Movie Studio HD (30) will do what you need.

    Oh no, here we go.....

Anything by the Rolling STONES, The STONE Roses, Maggie Bell and STONE the Crows (showing age), Queens of the STONE Age, The QUARRYMEN. Little Miss DYNAMITE (I'm sure there are hundreds more)

    Specific songs:

    DYNA-MITE (Mud)
    Too Rolling STONED (Robin Trower)
    Turn to STONE (ELO)
    Turn to STONE (Joe Walsh)
I'm STONE in love with you (Stylistics (?))
Rainy Day Women #17 & 35 (Bob Dylan - just for the line "Everybody must get STONED)
(I'm not your) Stepping STONE (Monkees)
    STONE Cold Crazy (Queen)

And of course hundreds with "Rock" in, but I'd be inclined to go with the vaguely surreal "ROCK Lobster"

BTW Sounds like a great gig. Just take the footage and sell it on Stock Video sites!
