    Default Say hello back

I think we need to do better folks at welcoming people who say hello in the introduce yourselves section. Most people get a reply when they make a post elsewhere but saying hello can be like shouting in a cave and not getting any echoes.

I vote that Shrimpy be the official forum welcoming party. I must admit I just don't bother with the introduce your self thread. I didn't even post in there when I first came to the forum.

    Seconded!

Personally I find the cave analogy rather good. My point would be what are you expecting when you shout "hello"?

If you just want a "hello" back, that leads nowhere.

If you actually want to ask something (what time is high tide?) or comment on something (did you see that the tide is going to be particularly high tonight?) then you're far better off posting in the relevant section in the first place.
The only reason I can see for shouting in the cave is to ask for directions (hello, I want to find out about tides but I don't know where to ask)

    Miserable b*gg*r, aren't I?

I vote Tim plays the part of Scrooge in the DD pantomime this Christmas. You forget Tim, you were the person who answered my shout when I turned up, oh how you must be regretting that now

    Bah, humbug!

To paraphrase Python, I might have been welcoming you in my spare time

Go to the relevant forum. Click the NEW button at the top left of that forum area and complete as you did for your reply.
