Default Pinnacle Studio vs Power Director

    hi

not sure if this is in the right place.

basically im looking for software for around 50 and have decided on either Pinnicle Studio or Power Director.

have had limited expirience of both, but only trial editions.

thoughts and opinions would be greatly appreciated

    thanks

    sam

Pinnacle Studio doesn't have a great reputation. It can be tempermental and slow, but it is very easy to use and you can achieve quite a lot with it, especially the latest releases. It needs a good spec PC to get the best out of it.
Can't help with Powerdirector, as I've never used it.

If Pinnacle could make there software more stable it would be a fantastic entry level editor. I have been using it since version 8. So despite it's reputation I still liked it that much.

They have now built in an automatic backup of your current project so even if it does totally crash out all you have to do is re-boot your PC, open Studio and it gives you the option of opening what you was last doing.

I think they would be better off stabilising the software rather than making it safer when it does crash. Having said all that I have not had many problems with it. I have also found that a lot of the "Pinnacle problems" is often due to an unstable Windows environment.

So if your OS is stable Pinnacle would be a good beginning for anyone to get into video editing. It's user interface is so simple and instinctive that on my first ever use ,I just did everything I wanted to without even looking at the manual.

I haven't used Power director for such a long time that I can't comment on it.
