you really cant swing a kickin ass system and final cut with only 1000 dollars, i beleive. save a thuosand more, and you will be able to buy yourself a really good iMac and final cut.

and you could buy an emac. but you dont want to, trust me.

You can just about do it. FCPHD cost 699 and a brand new Mac min cost 339 so a total of 1,038 will get it for you, if you can stretch the extra 38 that is

However, if you go this rout, you should get 1 gig of RAM.

they're pretty much the equivalent of the mac iBooks. Not great, but definitely useable. And cheap.

i've tried final cut pro on an ibook and though it is possible i wouldn't suggest it for projects over 30 secs. to render 20 mins of video it estimated 6 hours, final cut pro is awsome though and if i could afford to get it and a dual g5 powermac i'd be in heaven.

Did the iBook have the default 256MB though? Slam some more ram in, and they're noticeably quicker.

it had an extra 512 mb of ram, so 768mb in total which should be enough.
