Thread: YouTube Mpeg4 conveter

  1. Default YouTube Mpeg4 conveter

In order to get the best quality video on youtube, you must make your video 1280x720
but i guess the format needs to be in Mpeg4 or some...
Does anyone know how to convert an AVI or .MOV file to Mpeg4?
I use Premier CS3, its does not give me the option to export to mpeg4, unless someone knows about a plug in ??/
what is the best way to convert AVI or .MOV to Mpeg4 ?

I used to use MPEG StreamClip 1.2 along with QuicktimeAlt1.81, both of which are freeware. But now I just use Sony Vegas Professional 9 and it does it for me.

ok man you showed me a good place for the settings...
ok I did use 264 and for PRESET i used YOUTUBE, I guess its a template , but i didn't pay attention to the size of it, which is much smaller than 1280x720
Now i just picked a HDTV template , which say 1280x720
but then i had to change from 24P to 29.97
    lets see

ok the prests are basically to get you started.

Choose h.264 and the 720p profile.

    now customise it.

under the video tab there should be an option to change the frame rate to 24p. just change it.

    its as simple as that

    ok buddy
I went through so much to get a good result ,

I used of the HD presets, but then i had to modify it a bit...here its

    format= MPEG2

    Summary :

    NTSC, 1280x720---29.97drop fram[fps] , progressive, Quality 5.0

    what you think ?

    bitrate settings :

    Bitrate encoding VBR, 1pass

    target bitrate 10

    maximum bitrate 18.5

I haven't used Adobe Media Convert so these settings are from Sony Vegas...

format= MPEG2 or you could use mp4 aswell as Youtube will accept both.

    Summary :

NTSC, 1280x720---29.97drop fram[fps] , progressive, Quality 5.0, is 5.0 the highest it can go?

    what you think ?

    bitrate settings :

Bitrate encoding VBR, 1pass, I tend to use constant bitrate to reduce blockiness, I think I had a problem with transitions a while back, they were very rough and blocky at low data rates and using a VBR.

target bitrate 10, I have been using the 20 megabits per second setting in Sony Vegas but then again it depends the length of your video. The more megabits the bigger the file.

maximum bitrate 18.5 - again using 20 megabits as the lowest setting.

    ok buddy
    here is a question
most of my projects are only less than 5mins, basically music videos

when i render the final AVI (compressed) the size of my files are mostly between 600mb to 800mb max
so, which parameter you want me to change to get a better result ?

btw, i used sony vegas for a while , when i switched to Premier CS3, it was like a world of different as well as Adobe after Effect
