Thread: Looking to do a collab?

  1. Default Looking to do a collab?

Hello. Yes, I am new to this forum, so hello to everyone out there. I was wondering if anyone wanted to participate in a collab via internet. I have two possible ideas, one a song, and one a video. If anybody is willing to help out for either one, then shoot me a PM, or reply here.

Also, looking for some people to discuss and share ideas with, since none of my friends are really into what I do.

    Right-o then.

Also, if this is in the wrong section, or not allowed, sorry.

Are these commercial ventures or just personal projects you are doing for yourself?

Personal projects. I want to expand more with people that I can relate to, and can get and give help along the way.

What are you bringing to the table? Do you film or edit? Are you a musician? A composer? Do you "just" have the ideas and want someone to realise them?
The ore specific you are, the better your chances of a response, going by past collaboration attempts on this forum.
It might also be useful if you give some idea of your age, influences and the works that inspire you.

I think you need to supply more information about what you are wanting to do and indeed what you are capable of. My work leans towards surreal arthouse music videos and personal projects but i'm always interetsed in meeting kindred spirits to discuss ideas. Working via the net is workable as i have just finished a collaberation with a composer in France (i'm UK Yorkshire) and have previously worked with a Japanese artist via the web. These projects came about because i stipulated exactly what my intentions were and what i would actually be doing. General requests for collaberations tend to be greeted with a quizical frown as we wonder what exactly you are looking for.

To be quite honest, I would consider myself an ameatur video maker. I have a friend who I am starting to record songs with (first recording today), and am learning how to create original melodies on Fruity Loops. I am 14, so I am no where near as good as most of the people on this forum. I tend to film and edit mostly. I also tend to lean towards comedy.

I think that most people will most be turned away because of my age, which is honestly fine, but if not, then again, shoot me a PM.

    That's a good start.
Don't worry about giving your age. More people will be turned away by not having ANY information.

Other keen teenagers who might have been turned off because they thought they were dealing with someone much older, might now show an interest. SO you've increased your canidate list.

You could do with saying a bit more about what you're after - "share ideas with" is a bit vague. You've told us what you do and given an idea of level of experience, now expand a bit on what you'd like your colaborator to bring to the table. Heed venatici's advice above.

Well, I was hoping the collaborator could show me some tips overall. Also to have a comedic side, since I am not the most serious of people. I was thinking about filming a short story I wrote.

Basicly, it is about Death telling me I have 24 hours to live. I was going to continue to write it, but I would need to film a lot during school hours, in class, the gym etc. I really want to film it so cut it very short.

So I'd like personal opinions on it. Also, I am a decent animator, if that is any help.
