Default Mpeg H264 converted to AVI then no sound in Vegas

I am trying to find a way to edit video from my Sanyo Xacti 2000 Ė it isnít easy.
I realise Vegas doesnít deal with MPEG 4 H264 formats too well so I tried converting my video to AVI using MPEG StreamClip.

It produced video that played in Windows Movie Maker but not in QuickTime or more importantly Vegas where I want to edit them.

    What can I do?

I use Videocharge Studio for it and everything is OK.
