Thread: After Effects help.

    Default After Effects help.

I've recently been experimenting with green screen footage in Premiere Pro cs4. I shot some footage of my son in front of the green screen using my AVCHD camcorder. This keyed out perfectly using Premiere Pro, but when I opened the project in After Effects cs4, it looked terrible. There were lots of green patches that had previously been keyed out in Pro. Also, the picture looked very pixelated and blocky. This doesn't make sense. I assumed that I could import the project into After Effects and it would be the same as it was in Premiere Pro. I've also tried importing the green screen footage into After Effects pre-keyed, but had the same results. Any advice welcome.
    Thanks in advance,
    Terry.

Best advice I can offer here is the following - but its probably not what you want to hear.

AVCHD footage is highy compressed. Aftre Effects does not generally play nicely with compressed formats and its generally recommended to avoid them at all costs. What this means for you is you import your footage into Premiere - export it to some lossless codec and then import that into AE. But it will be worth it, although you are not unhappy with teh key you've grabbed in Premiere - you are guaranteed to be able to get a betetr key in AE. You will use different effects though - so it;s not a case of importing the pPRO project. AE has better keying than PPro so forget PPro in favour of keylight in AE.

"keylight" plugin would be a good solution to it.you are can play with dozens of sliders to make your video look like as you want.
