    Default Premiere Pro CS4 Problem…Help!

When I import a video and use the scrub bar to “search” around the file and then go to play the movie the audio is thrown way out of sync. I have tried to import different movies and the same problem occurs. I’m just navigating around the file and it will always throw the audio off when I hit play… what in the world is going on?

    EDIT: forgot to add specs.

    My Specs.
    OS: Vista 64b
    Ram: 3 gig
    Cpu: Intel i7 2.67GHz
    Gfx: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M

    Thanks in advance,

    razz

Pleas can you post the specifications of your source video? You can use gspot to analyse the video - GSpot Codec Information Appliance. Post the screen shot of the results here.

The mopst likely explanation is that you are using a highly compressed video and audio file, or that the audio has been recorded with a variable bitrate. One way to avoid these time line issues is to first convert into a less compressed format (particulary for the audio). You should be able to do this within Premiere by outputing the audio only to WAV. Then unlink the audio and video on the timeline, delete the audio track. place the newly created WAV on the timeline and link this to the original video. If that doesn't work, you will need to convert the video too.
