Default Error: a device does not exist (ignore this post, sorry)

I have Vegas Movie Studio 9.0b (build 66).

I hadn't used it for a while; then when I went back on today I started getting an error whenever I try to play my projects. It's not just one; I get the error even in a new project. The message says:
An error occurred while starting playback.
    A device does not exist.
When I hit 'details' I get
The playback device Asignador de sonido de Microsof does not exist.
    Would reinstalling fix this?

Ok, never mind. It seems to be just an extension of a sound problem I have. I HATE VISTA.
