Angry HD render in After Effects

I have been asked to put together a movie for a conference, I am using mostly stock footage and I am editing it in After Effects.

They have asked me to deliver a video (Just under 2 mins) in full HD 1920x1080 25 fps uncompressed quicktime format.

I have set a new project with these parameters and:
1 My computer (an 8 core with 12 GB of ram Mac) will not render and it freezes after rendering 5 secs of footage.

Does anyone know what are the basic memory requirements for rendering HD footage in After Effects?

    THANKS!
