    Default vignette effect in premiere elements

    Is it possible to do subtle vignette effects in premiere elements ? theres no presets just wondering if there's a work around ?

    If it's the classical elliptical effect you are looking for then you could create a still image in either Photoshop or some other image editor with a white surround and a black centre. You would need to feather the edge unless you want it to remain sharp. Then in your NLE use something like luma keying to remove the black. A more complicated version of this is to create a black and white matte (with an alpha channel - sorry I just seen this now and it should have been added in).

    And save it as a PSD or PNG file, I think TIFF works aswell. I can't remember the exact process but you have to import the file into your NLE and then do something like remove matte or reverse matte so the hole is removed and you can see the video underneath. To get the size correct, move the playback head to a frame in the video and capture a still image. Use this as a template when making your elliptical vignette.

    We have to cater for all levels, explaining alpha channels, mattes, luma keying and still images formats that preserve layers and or transparency etc in a way that everyone reading this can get their heads around it was my intention.
