Default Newbie Question RE: Vegas Pro 9

I'm a newbie and editing on my PC. I've produced videos for tv back in the old days but now having to do it all myself.

I have a client who wants me to take their Power Point presentation along with footage of them speaking with the Power Point behind them.

I believe the Power Point will have to be imported then footage of a head/ shoulders shot superimposed on the bottom right corner as they talk about their presentation.

Also, I'll be editing regular type footage with some special FX.

Here's kinda what we are looking to do.

Check out the video on your upper right.

Will Vegas Pro 9 be able to do all of this (like adding text special FX etc.)?

I'm working on a quad core PC with XP pro 32bit.

    Thanks,
    Jamie

Vegas could certainly handle the editing side of things but you'd need to develop the graphics in something else - especially the motion lower-third backgrounds.
Those text effects certainly could be done in Vegas, though it might take a bit of work. I suspect that some dedicated titling packages or After Effects might make that work easier.

    What program would you suggest?

    Thanks,

I wouldn't as it's not something I get involved with. I'm sure others here will help you out.

You'll need to shoot the person against a blue or green background and then key the background out so you can see the Powerpoint presentation behind them. Try reducing the scale of the video so they fit in the bottom right corner, don't know if that will affect the quality or not. Usually it is better to make stuff smaller than increase it in size that's both for video and bitmapped images. I can't think of a Powerpoint to avi or mov utilitly but if you do a search on Google you might find one.
