Thread: Can I merge two video clips into one using Vegas Pro 9?

  1. Default Can I merge two video clips into one using Vegas Pro 9?

I'm brand new to Vegas Pro and I'm trying to merge two video clips into one...I'll try to explain what I mean...I want clip B to be part of clip A...here's an example of what i mean (the girl is clip A, the boy is clip B, and they are merged into one):

    I'm using Vegas Pro 9.0

    Thanks in advance!

So it's effectively a split scree right? Very easy to do in Vegas but rather than me explaining it, check out Ed Troxel's newsletter which covers this - www.jetdv.com :: View topic - Vol #5, Issue #2 (October 2007)

that may be what i need, but i'm talking more along the lines of one video clip on top of another...if that makes sense. here's another example: the first two scenes in this clip is what i'm trying to explain...the forest in the background is one video and the girl is another video, all merged into one clip.

Try the blend/overlay modes in Vegas and there is probably some chromakeying work done in those clips aswell.

Depending on how simple your requirments are you could just put one clip above the other on two separte tracks then adjust the opacity of the top track. To do that - move the pointer towards the top of the timeline track and the pointer will change to a hand - drag down - this will reduce the oacity thus making the top track more transparent.

Default Simple, you have two ways:

First, easiest, but with poor options: Use the CokieCutter Plugin.
Second, harder, but with more options: Use the Mask, inside the "Pan/Crop" window.
