I've been capturing video footage of freeware PC games with Camtasia Studio 3, but when I open and run them in Premiere Elements 7 the footage quality is awful. It seems to mix up parts of the captured footage and is incredibly jerky.
So I tried experimenting with different codecs. I found that the best way to capture the footage, and at the best quality is to use the "uncompressed AVI" format - but the file sizes these produce are absolutely huge - a minutes worth of footage takes up nearly 1GB and this is not ideal at all.
Can anyone recommend any codecs that capture footage at a high frame rate (30-50 frames per second) AND that are compatible with Premiere Elements 7.
I did find a workaround but its not ideal - to open the captured footage in Windows Movie Maker and save as an wmv file. I tried DVD quality footage but there is a definite difference in the quality of the footage, even though it runs at a good frame rate.
If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated I have 4GB RAM, 500GB harddrive space and am running in Vista.
