    Default Urgent need advice ??

    So someone is selling a
    Canon XL1 S for $1200 comes with
Camera package comes with all the original gear + manual + 3 batteries

    He said

Hours are a total estimate, but would guess, somewhere between 200 + . I shoot weddings primarily and that camera has seen some action but still in good working order, could definately use a Canon service, lube and cleaning of the heads, will cost around $60.

The one thing I do remember at one time I was playing a DV tape back to review some footage and the tape got "crunched" or "eaten". I have not played tapes back since then.

Everything else in good working order. Let me know if you want to see it first hand.

    ____________

    Should I buy or no?

As far as I know, and I could be wrong so someone correct me, That camera has a counter on it that shows drum and head hours.. So he should know exactly how many hours are on it... Just use caution

Thank you brother (and I will add an official thank you.)

Do you know where I could find the counter? And if the hours are true (what he quoted) is it a good price?

Also, I have a HV20. Is the Canon Xl1s too old to compete? Or does it still pack a punch? Please advise me. Making purchase or not tomorrow.

Im not sure where the counter display is, someone here who has one can answer that for you. 200 hours isnt that bad and price seems ok.. not great but not bad..

The HV20 is HDV and the XL1 is SD.. I have the HV30 and it has pleanty of manual controls. My opion is stick with the HV..
