Thread: Output to DV problem

    Default Output to DV problem

I am hoping that someone out there will be able to help a new kid on the block.

I am having difficulty downloading video back to DV tape with Ulead Video Studio 7.

I have carried out various tests, which lead me to a conclusion that the problem possibly lies with some sort of protocol difficulty/problem within either the SB firewire connection or Windows itself.

I have carried out the same operation on a different PC, (but using my own camcorder and firewire), with no problem –which suggests that the problem does not lie with either of those elements.

When I try to do the same on my system, the DV tape in my camcorder picks up perhaps a few frames of the output, then a blank space for several seconds, then a few more frames. Each time the program tells me that it is doing what it is supposed to, but obviously it isn’t.

This happens with whichever software I try (Ulead, Pinnacle, or WMM)- all with the same result – which suggests the problem is not in the software.

Am I missing something –like SB updates etc, or settings within Windows?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

Check that your directx drivers are at the latest version.

COMPAQ something or other with 500Gb Boot Disk, 1Tb external Firewire Disk, 4Gb Memory and a super duper sound card, 19" TFT Monitor etc etc etc
    Sony TRV33e : Sony TRV310e : Canon XM2
Sony Vegas Studio editions to v11

    I should also have added,

Check that your Video Studio Project files are set to 'DV Type 1'

    Also defrag your hard disk.

Might be worth checking that your firewire cable is ok, or try your firewire card in another PCI slot in case there's an IRQ conflict.

    good luck
