    Default Mini DV decks?

OK So it's hardware, but it doesn't fit under any of the hardware headings.

It's sort of home entertainment I suppose, but it's not a typical home setup application.

Neither is it an announcement, news or off topic.

But I had to post the query somewhere and at least it might get looked at here.

I've been charged with searching for replacement kit for our video club, just so we can get some current prices for insurance purposes. This is equipment used for playback/projection only.

The sticking point is the deck. We currently have a JVC combined MiniDV (Standard Def) & VHS jobbie.

Trying to find ANY MiniDV decks for sale is proving tricky - they seem to be history (Creative don't list anything for example). Does anyone have any suggestions (I'm quite happy to go with an HDC/MiniDV option and lose the VHS - we still need VHS but rarely and we can cover that option other ways)?

And while we're at it, are there such things as SD players? Units that'll playback AVCHD cards to an HDMI cable. This is going to be a requirement pretty soon.

the simple answer tim is that a mini dv deck is a second hand dv camcorder and an avchd player is a sony ps3.

That's EXACTLY the sort of thing I was looking for, Wil. Thanks.

Marc, I know what you mean, but it's not ideal in a projection setup (I suppose we could always hide cams in a box )

Does Creative still do the Sony DSR V10P? I haven't been on their site recently and it might be diffcult getting some of those models now. There's another online store called Pixmania, did you try them?

    Thanks Nikosony,
Good call on the DSR V10P - still available (unlike the more industrial DSR11). Thanks
    Pixmania - sadly nothing.
But tht's all fine. I just need to know something is available and an approximate price.

The Sony DSR V10P is a great little playback deck with a lot of features if you are getting into using DV video in a more professional way. Great for outdoor shoots aswell.
