Thread: Will learning Vegas 6 help with using 8?

  1. Default Will learning Vegas 6 help with using 8?

lynda.com offers video tutorials for sony vegas 6.0.

    I have vegas 8.0.

I am wondering just how different or similar the two versions are?

Would their be value in learning from 6.0 tutorials and then trying to apply those lessons in vegas 8.0?

I have used lynda.com tutorials for other programs and find it to be really practical and thus, productive.

Appreciate any thoughts, rants etc on the matter.

yes the vegas 6 tutorials are still valid. The basics are all the same pretty much.. There are a few upgrades and changes but the basic usage is still the same

I have hard-copy, DVD tutorials, downloaded tutorials and favourite web pages stored to allow me to achieve to access easily and lever arch files of support material. And this "magpie" process of mine goes back to VideoFactory & Vegas3. It just doesn't stop. If I hadn't understood a process clearly and I don't use a function often enough, and forget the "how to" - then I have to rely on my backup material and Forums.

Don't skimp with your knowledge base material. It is a false economy. And as Mr Chapman suggests, the jump from 6 to 8 is more like a few steps rather than a real wholehearted leap. And what you wont find in 6 you will most likely be able to glean from forums and the Vegas Online help files and the video tutorials sprouting up everywhere. This last option often places/raises enthusiasm over clarity of directness, so be aware.

At the moment I am, again, sickling with rendering format template "blues". I'm getting there, but it is not straight forward for me.

Yeah, the online tutorials popping up here, there, everywhere are very HIT AND MISS.

Well, it looks like I'll be signing to get the Vegas fundamentals.

I totally agree with the never-ending-learning-curve.

But I am digging my digital 8.

    Once again, appreciate the thoughts...
