Default zooming in to HD after filming

    Hello all,

    Please forgive a nubie question

I have a plan, and I'd like to know if anyone's got any thoughts about it (cautionary tales, advice etc!)

Because of the way I'm filming (which I won't bore you with now) cameras have to be fixed in position, without anyone to operate them, capturing live events. I then want to be able to control zooms etc in the edit.

In the end, I want to end up with a standard def. video, but I figure that if I record in HD I can potentially zoom in post-filming and still get an SD resolution. Should look OK, shouldn't it?

I haven't got any fancy software (I use a thing called Magicx video something or other) so I'd be quite interested to know of any (cheap!) software that I can do the zooming in. Btw, my cameras capture in .mov.

    Thanks!

If your Magix video something or other = magix movie edit pro then its more than qualified to do what your after, its one of the most complete video editing packages that ive come across. I guess your a mac user wich im not, you will have to try and see for yourself how quality gets. But the process, would be right clicking your videofile in magix, choosing keyframing(or similar) and then choosing Zoom, H-Pos,V-Pos and keying thoose three parameters as you see fit.

    Hope this helps.

Magix is also rediculously cheap if you buy it online, so buy it:
You can get Magix for around 40$ while Adobe Aftereffects is around 600-1100$ and in my point of view, there are areas where Magix outshines aftereffects.
