Thread: Lines on video preview when there is motion. Why?

  1. #1

Default Lines on video preview when there is motion. Why?

When editing footage from my PS3, if I have the preview quality set to (Auto) its fine but if I set it to (Full) then whenever there is movement or motion then there are loads of lines that appear on the video.

I have only just noticed this because I usually have it set to (Auto).

    Anyone know why this happens?

"lines" could mean any number of things. Can you elaborate? For example - horizontal or vertical, randomly spaced or regular, one colour or mixed.

If they are regular, horizontal and basically look like the line above displaced then this is an interlace issue.

This will only be apparent in your rendered output if you have used Pan and Crop to Zoom in.

Render a small section and check that's OK.

Yeah they are regular, horizontal and basically look like the line above displaced.

I havn't used pan and crop but I have changed the dimensions of the video to make it widescreen.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the lines?

sounds like the frames are in the wrong order. Check the project settings and then right click the file on the time line, properties and see what it says in there, they should be the same.
