Thread: can i make 'tv style' news bullitins?

  1. Default can i make 'tv style' news bullitins?

For example, on BBC News 24 they have scrolling news bullitins throughout the broadcast at the bottom of the screen. Can I do that on Vegas movie studio 9?

Yes - the way I did this ages ago was to make a long jpeg with the text on and move it with track motion.

    See Marks answer...
    Or (alternative method)
Just create a generated text media.
Type your text in one long line.
Go to the "Placement" tab and select "Bottom Left"
Now (the tricky part) drag the cursor on the text media timeline to the far right and select "Bottom Right"
This will give you the "crawling text" you're after.

In the attached image I've made the background black and the text larger than you would probably use for clarity

    - you'd want to use a transparent background and you'd probably want to put a video track below this which is just a single band of colour or a band of colour with a logo or similar (search for "Lower Thirds")

You've probably got the timeline hidden. Hover the cursor near the bottom of your text media window. When it turns into a double-headed arrow click & drag up.
(Are you using version 7 by any chance - I think that was the version where this kept happening)

ok, i know its been a while since I posted on this thread but Ive come back to my news bullitins and i have a red background with white writing (as bbc news), and it scroles across the screen as i want it to.

But the background takes up the whole frame. How do I crop it so it only covers the bottom inch or so of the frame?
