Hi there everyone,
Here's my dilemna. I've recently started my own video production company and to be honest, due to my (apparent) marketing skills and largely through offering discounts to secure some initial clients, have actually picked up quite a lot of work. I've just completed my first paid-for job and am now turning my attention towards the next two.
However, because the work has come in faster than I expected I am getting a bit swamped (I currently have a day job as well) and could do with establishing a good link or two with some editors who would be willing to take on some work for me.
To be honest, with my first few jobs, I've only charged a few hundred pounds for the entire video (both two minute internet promotional films for accommodation providers with soundtrack / storyboard / shooting I've already done - preferred editing package is Sony Vegas Pro as this is what I have) so at this stage I can't afford to pay an editor a massive amount.
However, what's prompted me to write this post is that I've just come back from a meeting with a client who has a large band and has a budget of several thousand pounds to produce a full promotional saleable DVD for the band at their gigs. I also have two other projects lined up for which the charge will be greater than a few hundred.
So, I envisage that for the right person (s) there will be the promise of increases in pay for editing work further down the line (for me as well of course!)
So, basically I just wondered if anyone (maybe you're new to the editing game and want the experience like me) was keen to jump on-board with me and become a favoured editor I guess that I can ping stuff over to with a pretty quick turnaround which at first I can't pay a massive amount to but will hopefully (as the business has only been up and running for a few months) start bringing in more money later on?
I appreciate this might come across as a bit risky for someono and I'm not expecting the forum pros to get out of bed for the money I'm talking about but for someone it might be a break or just an excuse to earn a bit of extra pocket money. I am a genuine guy with a genuine passion for making video and for making myself, and anyone else who might help, a bit of money too.
That's it really, hopefully hear from someone soon - you can PM me if you'd rather or post any open questions here.
