Thread: Embedding video into email

  1. Default Embedding video into email

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this to set up your own email video marketing campaign?

Alternatively, can you insert a HTML link into a screenshot of the video which then directs people straight to YouTube / Vimeo or wherever the video is being hosted.

I appreciate this may be a bit too techie but any help / advice greatly appreciated?

I think if you started embedding videos into email marketing, people would hunt you down and attack you with big sticks.

I think the second method you suggest of having a screenshot in the email, then a link to your own website where the video is displayed (embedded if hosted elsewhere)

I have received emails that contained screenshots and links to various websites, so I guess it can't be too difficult to do that.

But I wonder how you embed an HTML link into an image - can it be done in Photoshop? I looked but couldn't see any obvious 'embed HTML' option ??

Create the e-mail message in "Word" or another bit of software.

When you put the picture into the document right click it and somewhere in the properties will be an add html or http bit. Here you can put any web address you like.

Much like when you type click HERE and add a link to the word "HERE".

Very easy to do and a lot of us do it, we might not all know the best way but any way that works is good.

I send a few e-mails this way and the whole background image is a clickable link to wherever i want them to go.

    Hope this helps.

I agree with Mike - video in spam would be awful.

I think posting a dvd to prospects my be more fruitfull - but I have little expirience of such things.

Thanks for the great tips Mitch, will give that a go!! Just for information, I was never suggesting video spam, just a client who wanted to see if the could embed a video I made for them into email for their own preferred clients.

    Cheers for the info guys

I woulkd up load to server space and then add a click to play line in e mail.

If the web link for video is clicked it will play.

Embeding a you tube vid may not impress.
