    Question HP Workstation Suggestions

Hi, I need a computer for video editing with premier and pinnacle. My budget is $4k-$5k (USD) and I'd prefer an HP system. What do you guys suggest? I know it's sort of a vague question, but any input you have is appreciated. Thanks!

Any decent PC is fine for video.

You specifically do not need a fast graphics card - the cheapest will do.

Spec the fastest cpu you can afford.

Two h drives min. One for apps, one for video. This seems to smooth editing in all cases.

    Two monitors valued by many.

I hope their customer service section is much better over in the US as it is funking terrible over here. I sent them a HP to get fixed a few years ago and it's an experience I never want to repeat again.

We use HP systems in my office. Have about 20 units and one failure in 2 years.

Oh I ma sure dells are dead reliable but it was horrilbe when on of my mates did have trouble.

For the last few pcs I have gone to a local shop for local people - m2 computers ( m suqared ).

I can spec just what i want, inluding weird stuff like cloning over loads of stuff of my c drive and mating new hard ware with stuff off my old pc like drives and g cards.

Proper customer service too - I am happy to pay up to 20% more than online cheaper deals for that peace of mind.

It's not necessarily down to model names or numbers - if it's got the power, it will be fine.

Like Mark W says - just get as fast a CPU and as much HDD capacity as you can for your budget and don't worry about the graphics card.

Get as much screen size as you can - 24" screens are nice, but might be a bit overbearing if you're using two screens. For a dual screen setup, I personally reckon 2 20" screens would probably be optimal, but that's down to personal preference.

Try to get a RAID5 hard drive setup on your system if you can. Speed and reliability there.

We really should all be aiming at raid 5 storage - it is affordable now.

I don't use RAID5, but it's certainly something I'd be looking into for my next build...
