This is a joke, right? I mean, it's a funny old name for a video editing rig.
I'm just starting out in the business of making non-linear editing
hardware. I've designed and built a system called the Giga64-2800+ and I'm
looking for some professional opinions on the specifications and
whether it is good value for money.
The URI for info about it is http://cabbagepromotions.info/hardware
I'm not trying to advertise my product here, and I don't expect anyone
to consider purchasing it. I just want some honest opinions so I know
whether to continue in this business or not.
Thanks in advance
Yeah... I was thinking it might not be the best of names...
Okay, a bit more constructive:
That's risky for video editing. I assume they'll be stripped (no point in mirroring as the drives are so small), and this would be an ENORMOUS risk for an editor. One drive fails and you loose all your projects - and the chances one fails are 4x more likely than non-raid.4x 36GB internal 10000rpm HDDs configured in Serial ATA RAID
Additionally, the performance gains wouldn't be worth the risk
Your software is a little confused too... best to offer a package rather than a paragraph of options...
I was actually planning on RAID-5 (striped + parity) -- I guess I should mention that in the blurb...Originally Posted by Marc Peters
Thanks for that, I'll re-organise it a bit to provide a package or maybe a few different packages to choose from.Originally Posted by Marc Peters
How about something like Giga64 for the name?
Or Giga64-2800+ to indicate the processor speed, maybe?
Photos photos photos!
As for a name, not really got any idea :-S
