Default Starter for 10 - I'm trying to learn After Effects

As the title says I've been trying to learn After Effects. I'm not completely at square one. I'm familiar with the layout and importing but after that it's a bit of a mystery.

I've gone through youtube and can find loads of tutorials but I need to find something that starts off basic and then builds on what you've leaned. If any one has any (cheap) book suggestions or links I'd be very grateful.

Oh and one other thing, after importing a file I don't hear the audio. Everything is plugged in correctly but even on the VU meters in After Effects nothing shows up.

Yeah. Video Copilot is really good. Go through the basic training stuff he has first.

As for books... Looks up Chris and Trish Meyer. best you'll find.

Thanks very much. I think that is probably the best tutorial site I've ever found on any subject and it's amazing they're doing it for free!

The general rule on the forum is that when someone helps you by providing information, it would be nice just to click on the Thanks button. And leave the attitude behind, I don't like it, you are only being asked to do someone a favour in return for them helping you, if it is too much to ask, then perhaps this forum isn't for you.
