Thread: Quicktime HD... What do i need?

  1. Default Quicktime HD... What do i need?

    Hey!
I have a Macbook and I just received some video footage from a friend and he wants me to edit it for him on Final Cut Express. When he gave it to me, he told me it was in quicktime HD format. I have quicktime pro, but when i tried to open some of the footage, it opened in quicktime, and the audio was there, but the screen was black. I am pretty sure i need to download a driver or something for it but i am not sure what i need exactly... so any help here would be hot

" quick time HD format " is actually pretty meaningless.

I guess thay mean the files have the extension .mov

This is only a box really - inside can be video that may use a variety of codecs. You probably need to get that codec.

    Two options.

    1. Use the free app ' g spot ' to check the codec then d load and install that codec.

    2. Install a codec pack - it will very likely contain the one you need.

I assume such things are avaialbe for the mac as they are the pc.

For the pc I reccomend the ' nimo codec pack '. Google it and see if there is a mac version or try ' mac codec pack ' .
