    2 things:

    1] You have VegasPro8c NOT VegasPro9

2] You need to list what Media you are attempting to load. Not listing this is unhelpful.

can you open a blank project with no problems.

Are you using AVCHD footage, if so see the Sony forums as there as some issues with the media.

Default I've got the same problem

I have exactly the same problem....I spent 2 weeks working on a project and Vegas suddenly says: Warning: an error occured, while opening one or more files.
This file is unsupported format. >.< What do I do?
I want my project back....Other projects are working and Vegas's working just fine, the effects, the importing, everything's fine EXCEPT THIS ONE PROJECT >.<
Ooh,and I'm using Vegas 8.0 Pro, if that matters.
P.S. I can not open the bak file of the project either

Two things come to mind, can you go back a few days (System Restore), just in case a new install has done something.

Move the media to a new folder or rename it and then fire up Vegas when it asks for where the files are, load each file one at a time till the program closes, that may point to a corrupted file. Or do above and tell it to ignore all files and see if Vegas fires up and then try dropping the files in again one at a time and see if that helps.

    Fingers crossed
