Thread: New and stuck.

    Default New and stuck.

I need some help with the sony vegas 9 generated media tool. For some reason it won't let me acess it. It won't open up for me when I want to edit text etc. It dosn't appear on actual video clip either as an option (the little generated media icon) Iv'e tried right clicking on it but the program freezes for a sort while and then nothing happens (it unfreezes itself)

    Whats up with that?

    Thanks,

    Hapuka.

Whats the spec of your computer?
Whats the file type you are working with?
and for those of us who dont know what it is!! What is the generated media tool?

Please explain what it is that you are trying to do......

    I would suggets that:

    1. Its not a full copy of the prgm and you may need to re-install it.
    2. Your system isnt powerful enough to handle it (Freezing you said)
    3. It is popping up but "Off Screen", in which case it would look like it hasnt opened up but has and its somewhere you cant see it.

Not a vegas user, I presume, Mitch

    (for info)
Vegas uses something called the media generator, which generates media on the timeline called generated media! Generated media includes solid colors, text (static and scrolling), moving fractal images, etc used for overlays etc.

It is generated on the timeline and as such doesn't have any file format until it becomes part of a rendered file. (Thus file type isn't relevant to the question)

Hapuka - See my post in http://www.videoforums.co.uk/sony-ve...3324-help.html to check whether this is the case.

    Hey Tim,

I am not no - Adobe all the way for me, I love it.

But sounds like it is No 3 to me. Nice to see that you had a ready prepared answer in the form of another post..

Vegas might be a good alternative if i ever run out of cash for upgrading Adobe products, or if they ever stop updateing them... I might have a drunken weekedn and try the free download just to see what its like.

Hope your problem is sorted now Hapuka.

I have tried resetting the program but for some reason It still won't pop up. Everytime I click on the tool the top (where the exit, minimize tools are) bar highlights itself (i thought at first it was freezing but it wasn't)

Any way I can get the generated media tool window to pop up?

So, you haven't tried the second part of my solution?

Your symptoms are entirely consistent with the pop-up window having been dragged off the screen. To save you reading my linked post again....

    Exit Vegas.

Change your screen resolution (in XP right clisk on the desktop, Properties, Settings and drag the slider to something else - eg 800x600)

    Restart Vegas

Open Generated Media. (it should now be visible)

    Close Vegas

    Reset your sscreen resolution.

I'm surprised it took a street guy like me to figure this out over all of you tech/video geniuses. The solution to this issue (on version 10 @ least) is to grab and separate the windows until you get to the editor that you're looking for. vegas pic.JPG
