If that's really your first video edit then it's exceptionally good.
It's certainly a montage as there's no real narratives and no consistency to the shots, but as such it's a pretty good.
Kudos to the cameraman on the skateboard - I presume (you?). Very smoth and some lovely long tracking shots.
Not my cup of tea at all (cos at the end of the day it's just some blokes on skateboards), but the quality of some of the shots and the editing kept me watching all the way through.

I liked your video aswell, some good shots taken from the skateboard for the long dolly shots, great to have a smooth surface to travel along. It may have been a little too long, I think a shorter video of maybe 2 minutes, faster music and quicker cutting may have worked better as some of the shots were repetitive. For such a long list of skaters at the start you either need to keep the title on screen for much longer or put up the skaters name when they first appear on screen, do a montage with that skater and then move onto the next skater, change the beat of the music so you can cut it differently.

thanks for the replies. Before I started editing, I use to practice a lot and there were many rough edits to this because I was kinda nervous it wasn't going to be good. Yeah I filmed most of it(Good Filming), most of my friends filmed too. The last trick wasn't even setup right because friend forgot to white balance it and it had no audio so I had to edit those in.

Yeah, I wanted to make it short too, like at the end, music didn't sound really good so I just faded it out because there was still 2 minutes left.

Note - I am effusive with my praise and frank with my criticism.

That was like every other skater video - boring and predictable - as you say ' throwaway'.

No human interewst - no changes of pace - no narrative - no naked bodies - no one gets shot - - boring.

Ok - just seen that it is your first edit ever.

In that case - quite well edited - but still boring and predictable. lols.

Thats a mighty fine effort if its your first video edit...or is it the first edit of this title..?

Tracking shots I loved them, don't see that very often with skate videos, usually fixed point.

I also enjoyed the camera drift away from the subject, daring and it works.

Just curious what was your tracking device...I assume a skateboard...I have heard shopping trolleys also do a nice job.

Well done as we see lots of skate videos here, this one's a winner.
I know nothing about youtube, even less about video

It probably is. That's why this forum can be a lively place. Polite prejudice!
