Default OEM software, is it for real?

I was just looking around the internet earlier today for a free download of some 3d modelling software (Daz Carrara Pro 6), it's being given away for free on the front cover of the April issue of Digital Arts magazine, so another trip back to the shops this week to buy said magazine. Anyhow, I came across OEM software on this site and wanted to know your opinion of it...

    X-OEM // Software Download

And couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these prices....

    Adobe After Effects CS3 Professional - $119.90

    Adobe After Effects CS4 - $99.90

Adobe Premier Pro CS3 and CS4 both $99.90

    Autodesk Combustion 4 - $99.90

How can they sell this software for such low prices, are they legit? Surely there must be a catch?

    From their own FAQ:

    1. Why does your software is cheaper then the original software?
Thatís all because we offer only copies of license versions.
This mean that you will not receive any printed documents (license or instruction) - just files and instruction in notepadís format, any special packages and will not be able to register this software online. All updates (for most of the software) are available for you. The software that we sell is bought primarily at the auctions and from the companies that have run out of business.

I take this to mean it has no valid licence and you won't be able to activate it.

Sounds very dodgy to say the least. No licence, no instructions and you will not be able to register it.

True OEM software is designed for system builders.. you get a legit disc with no book, legit serial number.. what you dont get is customer support, the builder is supposed to supply that...

I suspect the originators may not be too happy about them selling oem stuff.

Thanks guys for the replies, when I saw those prices I thought, you have got to be joking. They are up there advertising that software and I just wonder how they manage to get away with it. Is it a case of they are only one step away from being a Warez site?

I would guess they wouldn't be.. there was a loop hole at one time.. all you had to do was say you were building a new system. Now you're supposed to have a business lic.. and documentation saying you are a legit builder.. My OS is is OEM.. I had a hard drive and it came on the pc so I couldnt reinstall.

my guess is that they have unlimited lic.. for the software.. designed for businesses.. if thats the case then if or when they find out the activation will be void.. no one will know untill they try to update.. Im just wondering how many have they sold..
