Default Importing from Sony DCR-DVD100E to Vegas

    Hi all,

I have a trial version of Vegas Movie Studio Platinum - I am trying to import footage from my Sony DCR-DVD100E into vegas, it sees the disk but wont see any data on it.

I can watch the footage from the sony cam.

I am connecting my Sony cam up to my PC via USB. I am running windows xp, it is seen as a disk device in my computer.

I've tried the different imports types, media, dvd camcorder disk.

Any help or suggestions would be fantastic.

Have you finalized the disc befor trying in the PC ?
You must do this or the disc cant be read.

and you put the finalised DVD in your PC, select File | Import | DVD Camcorder disc.

This will ensure that the files are converted to MPEG2 without the VOB header stuff which doesn't always work.

You don't use USB (though this may work - it's by lcuk rather than design)

I finalised the DVD on the Cam and it has worked fine. I plug it into my XP PC and I am able to import the data.
But on my Vista Laptop which I want to use it on, it doesn't see the data on the disk - whether I use USB or in the DVD Tray. Any suggestions?

Odd indeed. I've searched the Sony forums on your behalf and come up with nothing. Ignoring Vegas for a moment, does your operating system see the folders/files on the DVD? If not, you can't really blame Vegas (I realise that doesn't help much, but it's a case of narrowing down the problem)

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

No it doesn't see the files on the DVD. I have tried using an external DVD player as well - same result, sees the dvd but not the data on the dvd. Unlike XP which sees it on the dvd no problem.
