    Default Could use some advice

Im looking to edit a bunch of movies (~100-200MB each) and dont know what the techinical term is for the process (I already looked at the wikipedia page from the sticky post) but I just want to simply "cut and paste" certain time segments from the movies.

For example for some movies I want to get rid of the first half of the movie, others I want only minutes 2-4 and 6-8.

I dont need all the bells and whistles that Im sure most of the editing software has, just need something basic that works fast. I have above average computer skills, but am using an older computer (XP/1.73GHz AMD/ 512 SDRAM)

I tried using the software prepackaged with windows (movie maker?) and found it to take forever

    Thanks for any help

WMM should be absolutely fine for what you want to do.

What types of files are you trying to edit?
What exactly takes forever? (ie what part of the process?)

BTW what you are trying to do is jus part of normal editing, you won't find any special terms - though different software may refer to "creating sub clips", "Cutting", "Splitting", "Trimming"
