Thread: YouTube wont let me upload my video

  1. Default YouTube wont let me upload my video

Ive got a video with series of clips with a song in the background; somewhere over the rainbow by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole.

But since the google vs youtube epic all music videos in the uk have been banned.

So i'm guessing they see my video as a 'music video'.

How do I get around this?

Prob not that - the thing you speak of is not really connected.

If you up load a tune that the tube dislikes it usually either diasbles sound or sends you a note asking you to change and or accept ads on behlaf of rights owners.

I thought that only applied to music videos, must give it a try in the next few days to see what the response is from YT.

Would you believe that the copyright to mindnight sonata by Beethhoven is owned by some comapny called Rumblefish in london. So you tube tells me. I sent said organisation a e mail daring them to sue me - daft.

I don't know about the copyright of the music itself, but the copyright of the recording will certainly be owned by someone. Fortunately there are dozens of sites offering royalty free recordings of Beethoven pieces.
    ...
OK I've just had a look at their site. They licence recordings that you download from their site. So, unless you've downloaded it from their site or obtained the same recording via other means they have absolutely no claim.

It's a bit like me making a video of Romeo and Juliet and then claiming I own the rights when Fingercuff makes a version!

Let us know the response (if any). I'd also suggest you email YouTube - can't imagine there will be a response, but you nenver know.

I feel a video coming on....

On the old classics I thought they were not bound by copyright, Mark I see your Mc Donalds spoof had its sound removed. Who's watching all these downloads, does a 'bot have ears to understand what's bound by copyright..??

Since Warner Bros walked the tube has been a very different place, lots of really pissed off people.

You would thing that music artists would use the want of people to attach their songs to a video as a gift from God, but we all forget, greed eats away the good nature of all we know.
I know nothing about youtube, even less about video

Not if it's attached to a pile of crap or something they strongly disagree with.

That's my understanding too. I believe the copyright on the written work runs out 70 years after the writer's death but as I'm not stating it as fact, only a belief.

Copyright on the actual recording also eventually runs out, but I guess we're not using many 100 year old recordings as yet so to all intents and purposes it's covered.
