Default Audio volume problem, Vegas pro 8.0c

Im having a volume issue with my mic.. it attaches to my 7.1 amplified headset.. well the audio I capture in vegas 8 pro sounds sharp and clear.. The volume is very low.. the wave form dosen't even show up on the time line.. in order to hear the audio I have to have the gain and volume all the way up... any ideas?

How can I set the volume input on the mic.. either though vegas or my sound card (soundblaster 7.1)

I Did.. I actuly found out the the problem.. I had the line in volume on.. but the mic was muted.. for what ever reason that area as hidden from the list... The only issue im haveing now is a bit of distortion.. hopefully I'll be able to clean it up in the editor.. unless anyone has a fix or an idea? thanks for the help tho
