Thread: Embedding WMV videos

  1. Question Embedding WMV videos

Hi, if this is in the wrong section then feel free to move it.

I'm wanting to show a video a I made a few years ago. I would just link to the YouTube page so it gets embedded automatically in this post. However, a few weeks ago YouTube kindly informed me that they have disabled the audio of my video because it contains copywritten music (Chilli Peppers, if you're wondering).

This is fair enough, I guess. I will be the first to admit that I don't own the rights to Venice Queen. However, it makes it a bit annoying when I want to show people the vid because the soundtrack is ever so slightly important.

I have the video hosted on one of my websites too, as a WMV file, but I just now tested this forum to see if it automatically embeds WMV files and it doesn't.

I was wondering if there was a way to put my video into this thread as a WMV file. If I was allowed to use HTML for one post then that would be enough to stick a Windows Media Player in here.

It really is a good video

Anyone know what I can do?

If you can make it work - the player I mean - with html that is cool.

    You can post html.

The only time I edit out html is when some teenage mutant thinks it is cool to have huge typefaces and lime green and magenta text.

Bad luck on the tune - it seems to be just the luck of the tube - nearly all my uploads pimp on other peoples tune and I refues to be an aplogist for doing this ( insert usual rant ).

The worst i have had is ' adult ' videos censored and a few bans for having a growed up soh. Several times I have had the choice of taking down or adverts - presumably as the tube have a deal with the rights owner.

HTML is not allowed. Wrap the tag "wmv" around your link. Like

    [wmv ]http://www.url.com/test.wmv[/wmv ]

Note: remove the spaces after wmv

It normally isn't That there is bb code which takes the WMV tag and translates it into a bunch of HTML. Only works on the board.

Okay, I'm sorry if I'm being blind and it's glaringly obvious but how do I embed a YouTube video in a post?

Using [youtube] tags doesn't work and when I've quoted other people's posts with videos to see what code they've used it brings the YouTube video up as a title link.

    What's the secret??!
