Default Might be a dumb question

I have a Canon GL2 DV Camera. I shoot auto racing with it and was wondering if it was possible to be able to record on the tape of the Canon and at the same time (via some kind of cable?) record onto another camera tape (Panasonic PV-GS39). I record for a video company but have no way of keeping my original tapes and have to give the company the tapes the night of the events.

I was thinking it would be possible using some kind of firewire cable but really don't have a clue how...

Fire wire to fire wire might work - no techincal reason why not. I have never tried it.
