Default Best simple video editing software?

Im looking for video editing software thats free (preferably). I need something to edit short video clips so I can post them on you tube. I just want to make the video a little shorter and add a copyright or some intro text to the beginning. What are some good video editing programs? I dont need all of the bells and whistles, just those few functions. Thanks in advance!

The free one included with xp.

As for you tube and copyright - forget it - you tube owns all the rights to everything you post. Well last time I checked that was the way it was.

Like Mark W said Windoze Movie Maker which is within XP and Blister (Vista).

I will add for best free encoding results download from Microsoft (free again) Windoze Media Encoder, it there because Movie Maker has crap encoding.

I found Windows Media Encoder has a troubled interface, and for many it looks all too hard, just sit down and get to know its features.

Blurb from Microsoft on Media Encoder..

Windows Media Encoder is a powerful tool for content producers who want to capture audio and video content using the many innovations in Windows Media, including high-quality multichannel sound, high-definition video quality, and support for mixed-mode voice and music content.
No link here, just Goooogle it.

    Good luck.
I know nothing about youtube, even less about video
