    Question Pinacle studio ultimate 12

Can any one help. I have recently purchased Pinacle studio ultimate version 12.The programme runs very slowly and takes ages to capture and analise. Dragging the clips onto the clip board takes forever.
I installed a new 750 GB hard drive (dedicated to movie making),video card, and 550w power supply on the advise of my local IT specialist and still nothing seems to have helped.
I am not very computer literate and feel i have been led up the garden path due to this problem. To date the extra components have cost me over A$500.00
A neighbour suggested the problem could be with the new hard drive but the supplier said they tested it and found it to be working correctly.
I learnt the basics with Windows Movie maker and found this to be an excellent entry level programme.Comparing the two programmes have made me realise there is a problem,as Movie maker definately runs a lot faster.
    Any suggestions

Sounds like you might not have enough RAM. At least 1gb is sufficient, but see as it is pinnacle studio ultimate more would be better. Also how many RPM's is the hard drive?

    Thanks for the reply.
The computer is a Dell 4700 series and came with 512 MB (2x256MB) NECC Dual Channel DDR2 400Hz SDRAM Memory (whatever that means) and i had another 1GB DDR-2 667 Mhz RAM installed last year.
As far as the hard drive is concerned the following is the description i have copied off the receipt. WD 3.5" SATA 750 GB 72/16.
    Does this help ?
    MANT THANKS
    John

I find it easiest to edit with at least 2GB of ram. I looked it up and your system seems to take DDR2 PC2-5300.

    Minimum System Requirements

      Intel® Pentium® or AMD Athlon™ 1.8 GHz (2.4 GHz or higher recommended)
    • Intel Pentium HT or AMD Athlon 2.4 GHz or 1.6 GHz Dual core required for Windows Vista
    • Intel® Core™2 Duo 2.4 GHz or higher required for 1440x1080 AVCHD editing
Intel® Core™2 Quad 2.66 GHz or higher required for 1920x1080 AVCHD editing
    • 1 GB system memory recommended
    • 2 GB required for AVCHD*, recommended for HD and/or Windows Vista
    • DirectX® 9 or 10 compatible graphics card with 64 MB (128 MB or higher recommended), 128 MB required for Plug-ins (for Magic Bullet Looks: Pixelshader 2 required, Intel GMA integrated graphics not supported; for VitaScene with HD: 512MB recommended)
      - 128 MB required on Windows Vista (256 MB or higher recommended)
