Default Are all these diff formats just one big joke?

I got all sony products because I thought that I wouldnt have any compatibility issues.

    I got a Sony SR12 camcorder
    I got a Sony Acid pro 7
    I got a Sony Vegas Pro 8

Vegas doesnt read files directly taken with SR12 so I have to open the SR12 viewer and drop files into Vegas.

Vegas and Acid dont read Mp3s so I have to convert my Mp3s to wave.

Mp3,MPEG mp4 bla bla bla bla. I've only used this thing for 5 min! WHat next!

This shit is really annoying. Do you guys have to convert, open drop this and that every time you want to do something??? This seems very inefficient. There must be a easier way!

Not sure what format the SR12 is in so no comment, but sometmes a viewr is required fro convertion.

Vegas 8 Pro does readMp3s (i use them all the time...) it also takes MPEG1, 2 and mp4 (unles locked) QT, NTSC, HD, HDV, (not Flash), JPEGS, GIFs, BMPS, WMV and so on

So not sure what is going on. try uninstal and re-install.

does it matter that its downloaded mp3s? (not from I tunes) I dont think they have any drm on them. I tried dragging and opening but nothing. it does read wav that I got from my cd though.. When I try to drop in a Vegas it says none of the files dropped into vegas could be opened.

The folder with the videos in it doesnt have one single file for one video. Its a bunch of different files. M2TS, SFKO, SFK1, MODD, MOFF . Its just a huge mess of files but when I use the sony viewer the videos show.

I'm with Z Cheema here. I use nothing but mp3s with vegas. No it doesn't matter if they're downloaded or not. Vegas does take almost any format that I've come across. I've often heard of people complaining they can't edit XviD or DivX (both Mpeg4) with vegas. I don't have that problem!

I would suggest you download a codec pack. It may solve your problem. I normally would'nt suggest a pack as it can cause conflicting problems with existing codecs, but if you're in a bind, go ahead and try it. it can only help.

If there is DRM then they will not plays as I have found with some Itunes songs clients have sent me.

Mt2 files are HD files the sfk(0,1) files are normally in Vegas 8 and are the graphical representation of the audio on the time line, the number referring to the clip number i guess.

    ( wares) - (wares) - (whatdoyouexpect)

Huh? What? - I was only coughing.

At the risk of casting aspertions problems like this are often a result of pirated soft ware.
If your is - serves you right - and if it isnt I aplogise in advance - bow scrape - and suggest you contact the nice people at sony.
