    Default Film related myths

Forums are a great way of sharing knowledge, but sometimes us experts merely help perpetuate a myth. A good example used to be that 'DV is a lossless codec'. Not quite true. Are there any howlers you've helped spread (and since realised the error of you ways), or that you just keep on hearing over and over again that simply aren't true?

Not a production myth but one everyone picks up from the movies is that at night, everything turns BLUE!!!

Only thing turning blue at night here is my language when I'm driving!

I like the one about nighttime being blue, still waiting to see it myself. Some other film myths are in a car chase the bad guys always get away from the police, the news is always on in a bar when someone who is on the run sits down and their picture is shown, the person behind the bar looks at it, then looks at the person and then goes to phone the police. And within 2 seconds the person at the bar disappears and the door is left swinging back and forth. Cheerleaders always get killed first, soldiers who have 'sweethearts' back home are always the first to die and scary houses always have a basement or attic. In a fight scene, everyone attacks the victim one at a time, never in a group. if you are being chased by an axe wielding madman, your car will only start after the 4th or 5th attempt. Good people always come out on top at the end of a movie.

Movie grocery bags come pre-installed with a french stick (long baguette) loaf of bread!

Movie monsters are completely invincible to guns, knives, bombs etc but when (in the last scene) in hand to hand combat with the 'hero' suddenly start to fight like girls!

Cavemen fought dinosaurs. Cave-women looked like Raquel Welch.

There are loads of sex related myths in film:
    For starters -

    1. Everyone on film gets it at least 10 times more frequently than the rest of us.
    2. If you look through a window after 9pm in US suburbia you will see the top half of an attractive woman removing her clothing.
    3. Sex is never messy (unless it deliberately very messy) and things never leak afterwards.
    4. If you go through a harrowing and/or action packed experience with a member of the opposite sex (or sometimes same sex) both of you will be single and available.
    5. The guy always gets the girl in the end. (And in porn he always gets her in the end)

Better stop now or I'll get transferred to Adults Only.
    Tim
