Thread: Which camera for Nightshooting?

    Lightbulb Which camera for Nightshooting?

I have a choice between a Sony Z1 and a Canon XH A1 when we are shooting a film which has a mixture of inside and outside shots during the night. The shots will mostly be outside (lucky me!)

I have trailed the internet and found that most people say that the Z1 is better for low-light situations. However some people say that if you change settings on the Canon A1 it can be equally good. I am more familiar with the Canon and would like to use it, but not on expense of good image quality.

My question is does anybody know how I would change the settings on the A1 (and preferably a why, I like to know what I'm doing) and what is your opinion? Z1 or A1?

Any other tips when it comes to shooting outside at night are welcome! We are going for dark shadows and a stylized look, a mixture of film noir and realism.

    Thank you

^^^^ DOH - stills camera you fool.

Niether of those cameras is a low light camera really - I suspect both will need gain - this will add noise but looks kind of cool on night shots.
