Thread: Newbie looking for laptop advice please

  1. Default Newbie looking for laptop advice please

    Hi guys.
First post, so be gentle with me.
I'm not brand new to laptop editing, having been muddling away with Adobe premiere and prem pro for the past few years. I now need to move to a laptop based system for working with the beeb. I've decided to go with media composer as opposed to final cut pro, as I've been playing around in a small way with a pals system and it all seems well thought out.
I've looked on the Avid site for compatible laptops, but would NOT class myself as a computer whizz by ANY stretch of the imagination.
I'm looking for a laptop I can install media composer on, and use it to edit DVCAM footage on with the minimum of fuss but with good reliability.
ANY advice on what I should buy is much appreciated.
    regards

    Simon.

I cannot really speak on media composer personally, but I run FCP on my Macbook Pro with 4GB ram, no problem. My co-worker runs media composer on his Macbook Pro as well and I do not think he has had any problems, but I am not positive.

    Hope this helps.
