The p2 card based panasomic hvx 200 appears to have had a ' make under ' .
The Panasonic AG-HMC150 appears to be a hvx 200 with less features and a lower price. Panasonic have been criticised for the high price of p2 cards compred to sd cards so the new model uses cheap sd cards, thats the good bit.
The dv tape transport is gone but thankfully xlrs and zebras are on the cheaper model.
Suprisingly they have chosen the most complicated way of compressing the video to the cards. AVCHD is clunky to edit and requires more power than competing formats.
The highest quality option is higher than most AVCHD cams at 21 mbit.
One can only wonder why panasonic didnt just use the well accpeted DVCproHD codec that they use with p2, along with it's higher frame rate options. I guess that no one would but the hvx200 if thay had.
