Thread: Sony Vegas 8.0 64-bit compatible?

  1. Question Sony Vegas 8.0 64-bit compatible?

    Help!
Santa's bringing me a new supercomputer for Christmas, but it's 64-bit. Will Sony Vegas 8.0 still run ok on it?

I've read Sony Vegas 8.1 is 64-bit optimised, so does that mean that Sony Vegas 8.0 will run on 64-bit but not be 'optimised'? And I hope I don't have to buy 8.1?

*EDIT* I forgot to mention it runs on Vista Home Premium.

    Help is very appreciated,
    Luke.

Santa's been good to you and his elves are even nicer......
8.1 is a FREE upgrade for users of 8.0.

BTW you will be running a 64bit version of Vista Home Premium, won't you?

Yeah, 64bit version of Vista Home Premium.

I was just on Sony live help and they said that Vegas 8.0 should run on a 64bit system anyway. But if the 8.1 upgrade is free, I'll upgrade

Thanks, and I knew I could trust Santa!

Although there are some exceptions, 64-bit OSes can run 32-bit software just fine... it's the *hardware* drivers that are the concern.

My wife can run anything on her 64-Vista Home Premium that I can run on my 32-bit XP. She just can't use 64-bit IE as freely as she would like if embedded material isn't 64-bit cmopatible (FlashPlayer, for exmple doesn't wotk on 64-bit IE).

So, even though your question has been answered, you have nothing to worry about.
