Thread: Explorer.exe crashing

  1. #1

    Red face Explorer.exe crashing

OK i have vista and it doesn't seem to like most flv files

Everytime i try play flv files with vlc or any other player, explorer gets really slow and i have to end explorer.exe and restart it

It definitly has something to do with thumbnails because when i turn off thumbnails i have no problems, but then i can't view thumbnails of any other media avi,jpg etc etc

    Any fix for this?
Or anyway of turning off thumbnails just for one file type(flv)?

I have klite codec pack installed

    Thanks

edit: OK uninstalling klite codec pack seems to have solved the problem

    Firefox

You could download a video converter and then just play the .flv files in a different format.

    Atube Catcher

Atube catcher has two main functions. You can download a YouTube video into any of the listed formats, or import an .flv file and convert it.

    Hope I helped

Do you not have to pay for that?

I've had the same problem with Windows Explorer on Vista except it is in opening mpeg files recorded onto a memory card. Explorer crashed both times when the icons show up (the first 5 or 6 show alright) from the card and when the files are copied across to the hard disk. I think I have that klite installed aswell but if I uninstall it, it will get rid of the useful codecs. Does anyone know of a fix for this or is there another codec pack that can be downloaded to fix it.
