Default Need to merge 2 video files together-same scene, 2 angles

    Hi,
I have 2 home movies I created on 2 different cameras of the same scene and I already transfered them onto my computer. I would like to be able to combine the 2 angle shots into one movie so that the the movies are playing side by side.

This is called "Picture in Picture" (PIP). The method depends on your software.

Do you know of any free software that will allow me to do so?

Also picture in picture doesn't that place a video source on top of another video source? I need something that will place them next to each other, they should have the same video size. Obviously there will be a lot of black borders.

Picture in Picture is the generic term for having more than one video on screen. Placing one small video in the corner of the main video uses exactly the same technique as placing two videos side by side: you need two video tracks and the ability to resize the video on each track.

I don't know of any free software that has multiple tracks. The cheapest I know of would be Pure Motion Edit Studio.
